This website, Manitas Por Autismo, or Little Hands for Autism, was developed by a number of parent groups. It is an alliance, developed by families affected by Autism, for families affected by autism. The goal of the website and organization is to provide support to parents and families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The website provides an excellent starting point for Spanish-Speaking families of children who have recently been diagnosed with autism, or if they suspect that their child has autism. They will find definitions, warning signs, symptoms, research, information about intervention and therapy, and contact information for Autism information in many different Spanish Speaking countries. The target audience of this website is parents and families, and while teachers may find it helpful to look at the website to see what information families may be accessing, there is no specific section for teachers.
The “News” section of the website is quite outdated, and may no longer be a viable resource. The “Services” section can be very helpful for families living in various Spanish speaking countries, as it provides the main Autism networks and foundations for many different countries. The “Frequently Asked Questions” section is lacking slightly. While it answers questions about children with autism, many of the questions are about the website, and alliance registration. It might have been more helpful to have two sections, one for questions about autism and one for questions about the website. This way, those who had important questions about autism could find the answers easily, without visiting other website. However, this website can be a starting place for families who are researching Autism, or have a child who has recently been diagnosed with Autism.
