This course is designed for parents and educators who are actively working with an autistic child to gain practical, neurodiversity affirming strategies so you can help in a confident and compassionate way.

Hi, I’m Dr. Donia. I will be your coach and teacher!
I’m a highly specialized speech and language therapist and an educational behavioural consultant, and a former professor and researcher. I have been fortunate to have spent the last 30 years working around the world supporting the education and learning of Autistic children and adults.
I have always been passionate about working with parents and caregivers, and most of my research has been around effective parent-mediated approaches to support young autistic children that are culturally responsive. I’ve also been a teacher and coach for teachers and parents. I look forward to being your coach and teacher, too!
How this course will work:
Let’s Talk Autism is a practical course that helps you understand your child’s communication needs and confidently support their growth at home and at school, one step at a time.
I have divided it into five chapters because as you journey with your child, you will need different information and different resources.
Each of the five chapters includes:
- a video you can watch in your own time
- handouts and worksheets you can download
Even though you will have a full-year to access the course, I suggest you work through the content over 10 weeks and spend two weeks on each chapter, but we are all different learners with different brains and so I leave this to you.
And, you don’t have to do this alone.
During the course, you’ll be invited to three live virtual community connection calls, facilitated by me, Dr. Donia Fahim, where you can:
- Ask questions about the material
- Get clarification on how to apply strategies at home and in the community
- Learn from other’s experiences
- Feel supported, understood, and less alone
Course Content:
Chapter 1: Foundational Understanding – Learn how autistic children process communication differently – and why that matters.
Chapter 2: Language & Communication Support – Practical tools to encourage meaningful communication without pressure.
Chapter 3: Play & Cognitive Skills – Strategies to build engagement, joint attention, and emotional safety.
Chapter 4: Real-Life Application – Support your child during meals, playtime, routines, and transitions.
Chapter 5: Understanding Behaviour and Self-Regulation – Respond to behaviour in ways that support learning, communication, and emotional safety.
